Compare hands within the same ranking
When two hands share a category, compare tiebreak numbers left to right. For one pair, the pair rank comes first, then kickers from highest to lowest. For two pair, compare the top pair, then the second pair, then the kicker.
Split pots occur when every tiebreak slot matches. The tool prints the tiebreak array for manual comparison between two entered lines. Suit order never breaks ties in standard high poker unless house rules say otherwise.
Handle the wheel straight
The wheel is A-2-3-4-5, treated as a straight with high card five, not ace-high. Ace plays low only in that sequence. 5-4-3-2-A beats high-card hands but loses to 6-high straights and higher. Wheel straights share the straight category with broadway ace-high straights.
Tiebreak high for the wheel is 5, so 6-5-4-3-2 outranks A-2-3-4-5. Enter ace as A in the lowest slot when typing the wheel manually.
Read the probability of each hand
Five cards dealt from a fifty-two card deck without replacement produce exactly 2,598,960 equally likely combinations. Category counts such as 624 four-of-a-kind hands come from combinatorial formulas over ranks and suits. Long-run frequency follows those ratios; a single deal can still land any legal holding.
The table in the rankings section states numerators; divide by 2,598,960 for probability or invert for approximate odds of being dealt that category from a fresh five-card set. Hold’em and Omaha need best-five selection from seven cards, which this page does not automate.

Seven-card hold’em is not evaluated automatically. Choose the best five of seven yourself and enter those five cards.
Are suits ranked for ties?
Suits are not ranked in standard high poker tiebreakers. Identical tiebreak vectors split the pot.
What card format should I use?
Use rank immediately followed by suit, such as Ah or Td. Ten may be T or 10 depending on parser acceptance; T is the compact form.
Does Deal random hand repeat cards?
Deal random hand draws five distinct cards from one deck shuffle. Duplicates within the five indicate an input error, not a valid deal.
