Katch-McArdle shines when total weight is a poor proxy for metabolically active tissue: high muscle or, conversely, higher body fat at the same scale weight. It is only as good as the lean-mass input. If body fat is unknown, stay with Mifflin-St Jeor rather than inventing a percentage.
