Show arithmetic
This duel tracker follows two players from a configurable starting life (8,000 for advanced duels, 4,000 for speed formats). Apply damage or gain life, halve or double totals for card effects, undo the last operation, advance turns, and read a short duel log.
Track life points for a duel
Player 1 and Player 2 totals appear in large figures updated after each operation. Pick the active player, enter an amount, and press Subtract or Add to apply battle damage, effect damage, or recovery. Starting life defaults to 8,000 but can change before Reset duel.
Amount defaults near common battle steps; edit the field before each button press when a card deals unusual damage.
The tracker performs arithmetic only. It does not enforce payment costs, chain rules, or automatic loss at zero unless players agree out of band. Life may display below zero for convenience when a large effect overshoots; tournament play often treats zero as the floor.
Halve or double life points
Halve applies floor division to the selected player's current total, matching many card texts that round down. Double multiplies the current total by two for effects that scale life. Both buttons use the selected player dropdown and append an entry to the log with the resulting pair of totals.
Order matters when multiple effects stack in one turn; apply them in the sequence players agree matches the game state. The calculator does not replay card text, only the numeric result you choose to apply.
Read the duel log
Recent operations list turn number, player index, operation type, and life totals after the change. The list scrolls within a fixed height so long duels stay readable. Undo removes the last log entry and restores the previous life pair for both players. Entries show the last dozen actions with newest first for quick review at the table.
Reset duel clears the log and sets both players back to the configured starting life from the starting life points field. Next turn increments the turn counter used in log labels without changing life by itself.
Set a different starting life total
Change starting life points before Reset duel to run speed duels at 4,000, traditional variants, or custom house formats. The field accepts any positive integer practical for your table. Reset applies that value symmetrically to both players after you confirm the number in the input.
Advanced format commonly uses 8,000; Speed Duel products often use 4,000. Master Duel and other digital clients may differ; align the field with the rulesheet in front of you before the first draw.
FAQ
Does the calculator enforce official Konami rules?
The calculator enforces numbers you enter, not rule legality. Chain building, timing, and whether a player can pay a cost remain with the duelists.
Can life go negative?
Life can go negative in the display when subtraction exceeds current points. Many groups still treat the duel as over at zero life.
What does undo affect?
Undo reverses exactly the last life change and drops the newest log line. It does not revert turn number unless that operation was tied to the undone change.
How is halve rounded?
Halve uses floor toward zero on the selected player's life. 8001 life becomes 4000 after halve, not 4001.
Does Next turn heal players?
Next turn only increments the turn counter for log entries. Healing or damage still requires Add or Subtract.
Can two players share one phone?
Two players can share one phone by switching the player dropdown before each change. Mirror the screen on a tablet in the centre of the table if both need to read life at once.
What starting life fits legacy formats?
Some casual formats use 8,000 or 4,000 as above. Older video games used different caps; type the starting value your group agrees on before Reset duel.
Is duel data saved online?
Duel state lives in the browser tab until reload. No life totals are uploaded to a server.
Closing summary
The tracker supports two-player life tracking with add, subtract, halve, double, undo, turn labels, and a readable log for kitchen-table and practice duels. Set starting life to match the format, then reset between matches without leaving the page.
