Pour and form concrete
The Concrete Calculator handles nine pour shapes: square and round slabs, walls, footings, square and round columns, tubes, steps, and curb with gutter. It returns cubic yards, bag counts for 40 through 80 lb bags, weight at 4,050 lb per cubic yard, and cost when a unit price is entered. Default waste is 5 percent and editable.
Ready-mix usually becomes cheaper and more practical above about one cubic yard, which is forty-five 80 lb bags. Below that threshold, bags and a mixer are often enough. Thickness still moves the order more than length: one extra inch on a large patio is a large volume change.

Bulk density varies by moisture and supplier. Confirm the figure on the delivery ticket before treating any tonnage result as a purchase order.

How the numbers are produced
Inputs convert to SI base units, the formula runs at full floating-point precision, then results convert back for display and round once. Conversion factors live in units.json. Waste, compaction and settling are separate fields where they matter. Geometric volume alone under-orders gravel that will be compacted and topsoil that will settle after watering. The ordering volume is always shown beside the geometric volume so the allowance stays visible.
Frequently asked questions
Which calculator should I open first?
Open the material or shape page that matches the job. Use Cubic Yards only when you already know area and depth and need a generic yardage figure. Use Square Footage when the question is area alone.
Why do two calculators give slightly different yard counts?
Usually the depth unit or the waste percentage differs. Confirm inches versus feet on depth, then compare geometric volume before waste. Compaction on a gravel page will raise the order relative to a plain cubic-yards run at the same depth.
Are densities exact?
No. The tables are typical bulk densities. Supplier moisture and gradation change the weight of a cubic yard. Use the ticket density when it is printed.
Do the tools work in metric?
Yes. Length fields accept metres and centimetres as well as feet and inches. Results still offer cubic metres alongside yards and feet.
