    Miles per gallon and litres per 100 km run in opposite directions. Higher mpg is better; higher L/100 km is worse. The conversion is 235.215 ÷ mpg for US gallons to L/100 km, not a proportional scale factor that preserves "higher means better." Mixing those intuitions flips which vehicle looks cheaper to run.
